Have you ever wondered where
does the ‘E‘ in our logo stand for?

The ‘E‘ in our logo comes from ‘E-RECOGNITION‘, a unique certification that allows us to act fully on behalf of our customers and take all necessary actions. I.e. that we can take full responsibility for a shipment and thereby be recognized as the official shipper, the registered party that meets all legal requirements. In legal terms: “a legal person, which - other than private persons, institutions or other legal entities - acts as sender and packer, assuming all responsibilities applicable to the original sender”.

Origin of the ‘E-RECOGNITION‘
The ‘E-RECOGNITION‘ has its origins in the need that arose in the 1980s for a legal framework for the handling and transport of Dangerous Goods. In collaboration with industry and DGM, the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment (then the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management) created a legal framework for the shipment of Dangerous Goods by air. This made it clear to (untrained) senders which legal requirements had to be met in order for Dangerous Goods to be transported by air. This legislation was given the name ‘E-RECOGNITION‘ and parties that met the requirements were given an ‘E-LICENCE‘.

DGM was the first to be found authorized and was therefore the first to receive an ‘E LICENSE‘. This license was granted and handed over in 1988 by the then Minister of Transport, Public Works and Water Management: Mrs. Neelie Kroes. To this day, only a handful of companies hold an ‘E-LICENCE‘.
